Philadelphia's Joyce Brommer Inspires at MossRehab's 'All About Art'

All About Art at MossRehab (Elkins Park), the annual international juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts by artists with disabilities, opened on April 30 and will run until July 1.  This free and open to the public exhibition features the creative work of Roxborough’s own Joyce Brommer. Joyce’s perseverance of her artistic passion in the face of multiple sclerosis is truly an inspiration.

Joyce Brommer taught music for more than 20 years until her career was cut short due to symptoms brought on by multiple sclerosis. Although she has no formal art training, she has created works of art all her life.  Most recently, she has been working with local opera companies serving as a chorus singer, board member, set designer, painter and stage director.  She also enjoys painting watercolors on custom wedding invitations turning them into memorable gifts.  She works in all media and is currently interested in the possibilities of multi-media works. In addition to M.S., she has degenerative disc disease.

The exhibition showcases works by 86 artists and fine craft artisans. In addition to local artists, there are exhibitors from throughout the United States, Canada and France. Mediums include oil and watercolor painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, needlepoint and jewelry.  Prices range from $12 to $3,400, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the MossRehab Diagnostic Laboratories.

MossRehab at Einstein at Elkins Park, 60 East Township Line Road, is the site of All About Art.  The show runs from April 30 through July 1 when it is free and open to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  For more information or to schedule a group tour, call 215.663.6100
