5 Local Valentine's Day Ideas

A look at options in Manayunk and Roxborough.

Valentine's Day can creep up sometimes. Though the Feb. 14 holiday is less than a week away, there are still options out there for couples and single people alike in Roxborough and Manayunk. 

Below are some ideas for the holiday (note that we will post a restaurant guide later in the week).

1. Couples Yoga at Synergy By Jasmine

This event, put on at the Manayunk studio, invites couples to stop going through the motions and connect in a new way. For the "yoga virgins" there are 1.5 hour couples yoga classes. Or for the more involved, check out the three-hour romantic couples yoga mini retreats.

This always unique Main Street boutique plays up the red and hearts with a variety of gift items. Find "love" magnets, keys, and erasers, in addition to themed jewelry, books and perfume. Shop in person or online.

3. at the
705 East Cathedral Road
In this literary-themed event, book lovers can meet new people with similar interests in Andorra. The event is free and for library patrons 25 to 35 years old.

4. Classes
3999 Mitchell St.
Get into shape, together. Trainer Kasey Manwaring offers two deals for couples looking to workout in a structured way. Couples who sign up for the indoor boot camp save $15 for registration. Also, a solid six pack of six individual training sessions, which normally costs $420, for $360.

5. Mile of Meet at the  
4120 Main St.
For the eighth straight year, the Brew Club hosts the Mile of Meet, with the help of BEN-FM. At this singles event for men and women aged 25 to 55, the brewery promises to meet or exceed its 400 person pool from last year. A mile of men will lineup at 7 p.m. for ladies to peruse. Guests for the Feb. 10 event include contestants Graham Bunn, Craig Robinson and Jackie Gordon from The Bachelor/Bachelorette, and DJ Marilyn Russell.
