And the New Roxborough Slogan Is...
Roxborough Development Corporation to unveil new motto.
With the Ridge Avenue streetscape project and other changes underway or coming, the Roxborough Development Corporation wanted people to consider Roxborough in a new light.
After 200 submissions and some deliberations, Roxborough is ready to announce its new slogan. The RDC will unveil the moniker Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. at the RDC's interim headquarters, 6111 Ridge Ave.
Resident Paul Selbst embarked on the mission to craft a new motto one year ago. He chairs the RDC's Award Committee Chair, and was tasked with finding a bite size (three to five words) slogan that fits Roxborough's neighborhood essence.
"This small phrase would help the reader understand what makes Roxborough a special place, different from any other neighborhood in Philadelphia," the RDC said in a news release.
They took to the streets and asked Roxborough residents, business owners and stakeholder to come up with the new slogan in the form of a contest.
Since that campaign began, the Ridge has begun evolving. The streetscape project kicked off, the Roxborough Library moved closer exterior renovations, Roxborough Memorial Hospital has announced a new program, and two prominent businesses—Planet Fitness and the Foodery—have announced plans to move in to Roxborough.
East River Bank CEO Chris McGill, the contest’s sponsor, and RDC Executive Director Bernard Guet will announce the new slogan and the winners of the contest to the public Tuesday. Champagne, light refreshments and snacks will be served.
