Not sure why the CIty of Philadelphia's animal shelter was left off of this list... ???
Please consider adopting from Animal Care and Control (ACCT) - the city's shelter that does not turn any animal away. They take in over 30,000 animals / year.

You beat me to it Elisa. I think that some people get the PSPCA on Erie and ACCT on Hunting Park confused and assume they're the same shelter.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought of ACCT! I was shocked when I didn't see it listed on here, especially considering the number of dogs that live in the area that are ACCT pups.

Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR.org) in Reinholds, PA, has many wonderful Golden Retrievers of all ages. Occasionally they also have Golden mixes.

This is a very incomplete list. You left out my favorite, Cat Angel Network, in the Pottstown area. www.catangel.org. They have lots of healthy cats and kittens (and more coming shortly, when kitten season hits) at the PetSmart stores in Pottstown and Downingtown.

And don't forget Spay & Save also an all-breed, no-kill rescue based in Lafayette Hill, PA. All animals are in foster care. Animals have been retrieved from ACCT, and also from a veterinary office in North Philadelphia where animals are abandoned. www.spayandsave.org

The Delaware County SPCA has become a warehouse for pitbulls and i wouldn't give these misguided losers a nickel to reward them for the mess they have made in Delaware County.
