Residents Create Own Bunting House Design

A group of local residents have banded together to create an idea of what they would like to see happen to the Bunting House site located at the intersection of Ridge and Roxborough avenues.

Resident Frank DeAngelo sent the renderings to Patch via email with this message:

Essentially Valerie [Morrison], myself and Donald Sloan, President of the Roxborough, Manayunk and Wissahickon Historical Society put together this alternative idea for the Bunting House replacement building as an example of what could be incorporated at the now empty field at the demolished Bunting House site that could influence Giovannone Construction’s next awaited design.

Our concept of what we would like to see as the new construction at the former site of the Bunting House is essentially a mixed-use business plaza aka The Bunting House Plaza with its entrance reversed to the rear of the property allowing the blank end of the building, now facing Ridge Avenue, to be used as a “canvas” to apply a full size mural representation of the Bunting House to, in an effort to gain back some of the character, lost by its demolition, to the neighborhood while still offering a solution to satisfy the needs of all other involved parties.

It should be noted that these renderings are being pitched as an idea of what could go there. Not what will go there. The Giovannone brothers don't even have to consider this proposal.

It is merely a group of citizens saying, "here, what about this?"
