Does Michael Nutter's DNC Speech Have Deeper Meaning?

Philadelphia mayor will address Democrats at Charlotte convention.

Joining rising and established leaders in the Democratic Party, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter will address delegates at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte next week.

Democrats announced Nutter's participation as a lead-up to former President Bill Clinton's address and Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama's acceptance speech for the party's nomination. It's believed Nutter will appear Sept. 4 or 5.

Nutter will speak along with other notable national mayors including: Cory Booker (Newark, NJ), Anthony Foxx (Charlotte), R.T. Rybak (Minneapolis), Antonio Villaraigosa (Los Angeles), and, Obama's former chief of staff, Rahm Emmanuel (Chicago).

Since the Philadelphia mayor's election as president of United States Conference of Mayors, national appearances speaking against the PA Voter ID Law, and continued campaign work with the Obama-Biden reelection effort, speculation has risen whether Nutter will leave Philly for a White House position.

Philadelphia Magazine theorized the potential of Nutter landing a Washington, D.C.-post in a blog late last year. Getting invited to the Democrats' biggest stage certainly doesn't seem to dim those chances.

If President Obama gets reelected, can you see Nutter in a White House roll? Vote in our poll or tell us in the comments.
