How Columbus Day Impacts Philadelphia Trash Pickup

Monday trash delayed due to holiday.

Columbus Day is a holiday that often leaves residents confused as to what's open or closed, and what city services are impacted.

Trash pickup, for instance, can make Philadelphia citizens scratch their heads.

However, according to the Department of Street's website, it's not so complicated.

For the Oct. 8 Columbus Day holiday, trash and recycling will not be collected Monday.

Instead, everyone gets pushed back one day. So Monday folks get picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday and so on.
