Manayunk Bike Race Back on for 2013
Congressman Bob Brady announced that a new event, the Philly Cycling Classic, will be held in Manayunk this year.
Looks like Manayunk will get a bike race in 2013 after all.
According to Philly.com, Congressman Bob Brady announced that the Philly Cycling Classic, which will be organized by "a team of sports event professionals" will be held in Manayunk this year.
“The Mayor has called for a premier cycling event and the team we have pulled together intends to deliver nothing less for the City of Philadelphia in 2013,” Brady said in a statement. “As long as there is a Wall in Manayunk there will be a world class cycling event in Philadelphia.”

If you read between the lines, this sounds like an amateur (non-professional) event. Be careful you don't "trade down" the quality of competition and permanently hurt the Manayunk brand.

God forbid the drunks of the neighborhood don't get "their" day. I was just starting to have faith in the area again, how I fooled myself. Can't wait for the new batch of cyclist see how proud of our little town we are. I hope they enjoy the smell of piss and vomit as much as I do. ATTN: College aged imports get your units hard and you legs spread! Its unnecessary party time at 8am.

Where does the Philadelphia Sports Congress stand... or peddle... on this? Cycling is an olympic event. One would think that the PSC would have been on top of the TDBank sponsorship.
