Mothers' Day Walk/Run Raises Nearly $10k for Breast Cancer Research
Roxborough walk succeeds with help of locals.
Exactly one month ago, Roxborough residents and businesses gathered to celebrate Mother's Day in a charitable walk/run.
The annual Roxborough Mother's Day Walk/Run had over 360 participates and it raised over $9,500.00 for Friends Helping Friends with Breast Cancer and the Susan G. Komen Foundation, according to organizer Maureen Pownall.
Rich Ameye of Flourtown won the runners' race, while Lori McGinn of Roxborough took home the walker's prize. Each received a gift certificate.
Linda Falcione, of Henry James Saloon, created a team of over 30 walkers. These were new racers who usually do the downtown walk. This year they decide to stay local and support the Roxborough Walk/Run.
