Main Street should soon seen a new hair salon, toward the Green Lane end of the street.

Starshine Salon prepares to open its doors at 4456 Main St. in Manayunk. The location was previously Miss Mani Pedi.

This continues the trend of new businesses on that end of town. Dice's Deli & Catering, Main Street Wine Cellar, GOALS Fitness and Euphoria Nail Bar opened within the past six months and will be joined by the hair salon.

Before Starshine Salon opens it needs certification from the PA State Board of Cosmetology, according to its website.

In addition to hair services, Starshine plans to facilitate an artistic community. Once a month, it will host creative writing groups. Playwrights could stage readings at these events. Additionally, the shop will offer wall space to aspiring artists. This employs the French Enlightenment Age definition of salon.
