No Charges for Barricaded Roxborough Man—Police
Armed man taken into custody Friday to be mentally evaluated.
The Roxborough man who barricaded himself inside his Delmar Street home Friday would not be charged due to psychological issues, Philadelphia Police said.
Spokersperson Officer Jillian Russell said the armed man who barricaded himself inside his home on 300 Delmar St. would be committed and that no charges were filed.
"He will mostly likely will not be charged, just mentally evaluated," Russell said.
The Philadelphia SWAT team and 5th District Police responded to the Roxborough street Friday afternoon after the man, whose name police did not release, took another person into his home while armed.
No injuries occurred.
Neighbors on Monday described the block as a "normally quiet street" and that the incident surprised them. The three people Patch spoke to, who wished not to be identified, said it didn't alter their opinion too much of the block and felt the incident to be isolated.
Fifth District Captain John Cerrone was unavailable for comment Monday, as he attended the funeral for Officer Moses Walker.
