No big surprise.........once again the police don't provide a detailed description. Heaven forbid that residents know who to be on the lookout for.

@ Debbie-- if the offenders are juveniles, their identities are protected by law. It doesn't sound fair, but that is the law.

@ Debbie & @ Ann; The police could have given a detailed description of the individuals that got away on account that they dont even know if they were juveniles!

Thank you to the Police for catching a thief, larcenist, pilferer, stealer. I'm sorry I should have used the politically correct term for "The Teen" who was arrested and that is "The Teen." We will never know how many cars "The Teen" broke into before he was caught. Lawless people like to hang out in areas with a lot of graffiti. The Police did a great job and I hope they continue their patrols in the area of the 4400 and 4500 block of Silverwood street, Green lane and the surrounding area's.

This time maybe the perps are not from outside the neighborhood. I say this because I frequently see teenagers hanging out on the Krams & Dupont steps drinking and smoking marijuana. It doesn't mean they're guilty but whoever did this had to be watching to make sure no one else was around.

Good point Debbie. I think that in an area, such as we have in Man/Rox with all of it's tiny allies and pedestrian staircases, it is important for the police to utilize some good ol fashioned foot patrols... apparently they're missing an awful lot of crimes just sitting in their squad cars.

Good job by the 5th- just to clarify a few things...as said earlier the defendant is a juvenile and his name can't be released. Adding a description of the two fleeing offenders would be nice but to say they were white/black or green isn't really going help catch them and if they weren't in the car they won't get charged anyway. If you see juveniles out at night- 10:00 pm for minors under the age of 13 and 12:00 am for minors under the age of 18-call 911. Footbeats in Roxborough would be the biggest waste of time. The bikes can cover much more of an area but the old fashioned idea of footbeats is waaay overated. They would only be placed on Ridge or Main street, maybe the Andorra shopping center but to see them walk up and down side streets at night (11:30 PM) is a waste of manpower. Overall this is still one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city and don't be afraid to tell the Police commissioner or the Captain of the 5th that it will only stay that way if they continue to send Officers and resources here. If we don't demand it we'll see the problems that they have in the great NE happen here.
Also lock your doors!!! Most cars in Roxborough sitting in driveways are unlocked-why do you think they prefer this neighborhood.

@phillycop, Good advise. I say double check your vehicle to make sure its locked as a lot of times perps go walking down the street checking doors to see if left opened. My friends car was just broken into in area with no sign of forced entry. I found his car left open before and told him about it. Guess he understands now after being a victim.

Would the dispatcher send the Police or would this 911 call be determined to be to unimportant by the dispatcher to send the Police? I would hope they would dispatch a Police Officer to the scene but I don't know.
