Police: Party Host Suspects $7,000 in Valuables Stolen Over Month
The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A woman told Philadelphia Police that over $7,000 in jewelry was taken from her Andorra home at several parties since Christmas.
Philadelphia Police said Feb. 3 a woman from the 500 block of Greenhill Lane reported she held several parties from Christmas through Feb. 1. She noticed numerous items missing from her second floor bedroom.
When police reviewed the scene, they found no trace of forced entry.
She reported five rings and one set of earrings missing—valued at $7,450.
Spare Key Used In Home Theft
On Feb. 4, a Roxborough woman told police she believed people entered her home with a spare key and stole $2,450 in cash and valuables.
Living on the 300 block of Ripka Street, the woman said she kept a spare key outside under a chair cushion for her mentally challenged nephew. She said her nephew's friends were aware of its existence.
Police found no signs of forced entry at the home and lifted six latent fingerprints. She reported $1,250 in cash and a gold necklace missing.
Car Stolen From Roxborough Lot
Leaving his parked car at a lot on 6900 Ridge Ave., a man reported his vehicle missing. On Feb. 3, the man told police he parked his car at ShopRite and was transported to Albert Einstein Hospital due to a medical condition.
He returned to find his car missing. Police said local tow trucks did not remove it. The car is a black 2007 Nissan Maxima.
Thief Hopes to Get Lucky in Lottery Ticket Theft
At the 7-Eleven on 7600 Ridge Ave., a store employee reported $40 in lottery tickets taken. On Feb. 1, a man purchased a scratch-off ticket. When the clerk turned, the man grabbed more tickets and fled.
