Robber Hits TD Bank For 2nd Time in Four Days

This time Philadelphia Police say the robber got away with cash.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a bank robber after the second incident in four days at the TD Bank Branch at 5501 Ridge Ave.

Police Spokeswoman Officer Christine O'Brien said a man walked into the bank branch just after noon on Sunday. He gave the teller a note demanding money, O'Brien said. According to O'Brien, he fled north on Ridge Avenue with $400 in cash. (see surveillance photos, right)

There are no reports of any injuries and no arrests have been made.

Police are looking for a man wearing a black hat and all-black clothing.

Police believe the same man is responsible for at least four incidents this month, including the robbery attempt at the same bank branch on Thursday. The would-be robber in that case fled without any money.

Police say they think the same man is reposponsible for the following robberies:

  • Feb. 14: Sovereign Bank, Bala Cynwyd
  • Feb. 12: TD Bank, Haverford
  • Feb. 2: Citizens Bank, Bala Cynwyd

The man is considered to be armed and dangerous by the police, who urge anyone with information to call the FBI at 215-418-4000. or the Philadelphia Police Department.

Police say there may be a reward for information leading to an arrest and that tipsters can remain anonymous.

Why does the TD bank on Henry and Port Royal have a Philly Police Officer there the entire time they are open? Who is paying that bill, us or TD Bank? Why don't they have their own security guards? Why don't all Phila banks get the same treatment??

someone has got to know this urkel looking douche. amazing he was able to just walk right into the bank again. when he leaves the bank what is his means of transportation? this is ridiculous, why is there not a detective at the least watching out for this bank? why are the people that work at this bank ignored, and put in jeopardy like this? the manager of this bank should be fired, how do you not have security? i am a customer, why would i walk into that bank now knowing that i am not safe? someone has to be held accountable. this guy is just a p...y, someone please identify this clown, i just cannot believe that this ladyboy is getting away with this.

I was surprised that they do not have security there after the first attempt. I worked in banking years ago, and you would be surprised how criminals think. We caught the one who had robbed us previously the second time he came in to rob us again in Center City. We recognized him walking in and called the cops. Criminals are not always the smartest group. And it is not always up to the Manager, Corporate controls if you can have security.

TD Bank pays for the police. They don't have an officer at the Chestnut Hill branch either and that's gotten held up quite a few times.

This guy is probably riding the 65bus on septa. All of those banks are on the same route and this guy probably also lives on that route. Maybe the police should also look for footage from septa. Post his face at every stop on that route and i bet someone will recoginze him. Who knows just a thought. Gotta get this a-hole off the street one way or another. I have a little one at home and it freaks me out to hear things like this are happening in our neighborhood in broad daylight.
