For the 11th straight year, Roxborough High School alumni of all ages will gather down the Jersey Shore for a reunion.
The Indians at the Inlet runs July 8 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Lighthouse Pointe, 5101 Shawcrest Road, Wildwood, NJ.
Patti Brennan helped launch the event in 2002 with Peg Middleton Brennan, her cousin, and Mary Ann Strunk Albright. She got the idea after attending a similar event for area Catholic high schools.
Typically, high school reunions are geared toward one specific class. The Indians at the Inlet, on the other hand, is open to any former Roxborough High students.
Since its inception more than a decade ago, the event has grown.
"I absolutely could not have done this by myself without the help of Peg and Mary Ann, initially, and it's now grown to include so many more people on the committee—Nancy Barr, Patti Guidice, Nora Gibson, Dee Kay, Frannie Costa, Nicole Capizzi, Lily Katz—and my kids, Trish Brennan Bari, Craig Brennan, Bridget Brennan and Will Brennan," she said.
Her children's involvement today is particularly noteworthy, because they were so much younger when the event originated.
"The first year was interesting as we were literally dropping Bridget and Will off at their respective dorms for freshman year and running back to the shore," Brennan said.
Over the years, the Indians at the Inlet has given back to Roxborough High School, as well. In some years, the alums donated money for soccer and baseball uniforms.
Following the death of Albright to ovarian cancer, the Indians at the Inlet established a scholarship in her honor. Kyle Narewski was this year's recipient.
The cost for the event is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. It includes lunch and happy hour deals. JellyRoll, featuring alum Gary Brennan on drums, will perform.
Additionally, there's a bus that runs from the school to Wildwood, but seating is limited—$50, including cost of admission. Contact Patti Shingle Guidice (215-200-3201) for seating.
