Spring Into Art at the Manayunk-Roxborough Art Center
With spring in the air, Manayunk Roxborough Art Center is bursting with more class offerings than ever! Starting Monday, April 8th, children and teens will be able to choose from an expanded variety of classes based on their age, interest, and availability. Registrations fees vary.
Children ages 6-11 will enjoy Monday’s class Art From the Heart (4:30-5:30 PM) that explores alternative art making using traditional media. Instructor Amy Gardner will guide students in creative expression with photography, paint, weaving, illustration, and found object assemblage.
Wednesday’s Discover Art (4:00-4:45 PM) is designed for the budding young artist ages 4-7. A variety of art materials and topics will be covered, guaranteed to pique the interest of the young-at-heart! Following at 5:30–6:30, After School Arts for children ages 7-14 years will encourage the young artist to develop techniques in painting, drawing, and mixed media with an eye toward personal expression. Instructor Quincy Carpenter is back with us to teach both classes.
Our newest addition to our class offerings is the exciting medium of clay. Projects for all age groups have been designed with spring growth in mind, and all things that fly, buzz, and wag. Classes include Adventures in Clay (Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30, ages 5-8), Clay Explorations (Saturdays, 10:00-11:00 AM, ages 8-11) and Teen Clay Club (Saturdays 11:15 AM-12:15 PM, ages 12 +). Our newest instructor Janice Strawder will teach all clay classes.
Classes run through mid-May. Pre-registration is encouraged to ensure a spot in a class. MRAC is located in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia at 419 Green Lane, Rear, 19128.
