Farmers Market: Every Friday Gorgas Park hosts a Farmers Market from 2-6 p.m. There are all kinds of fresh produce, baked goods and other assorted sundries. They also accept credit cards.
Thrill Show Tickets: Tickets are still available for the Philadelphia Police Department's annual Thrill Show. All proceeds from the show go towards scholarships for the children of fallen city police officers and firefighters.
This day in history: On Aug. 23, 1305, William Wallace of "Braveheart" fame is executed for treason in England.
