Y.A.L.E. School Announces New Autism Program in Manayunk

Manayunk, Pennsylvania - Y.A.L.E. School, a state approved private school with nearly 40 years of success in serving students with autism and other learning differences, is pleased to announce its newest campus location in Philadelphia.

Located in the vibrant community of Manayunk, Y.A.L.E.’s Philadelphia campus will offer an environment dedicated to cultivating the strengths, interests, and abilities of students on the autism spectrum and with related differences. The program is designed for students in middle school (grades 6-8) and offers a highly individualized, challenging and creative curriculum for students who are academically capable, but who experience difficulties in their current school environment because of sensory, social competency, executive function, anxiety or learning differences.

“So many Pennsylvania families have called our Cherry Hill Campus, looking for a program closer to home. We are thrilled to bring our program into the Philadelphia area,” said Margaret Chapman, Director of the Y.A.L.E. School.  “Our teachers bring compassion to the classroom, while using evidence-based teaching approaches that have been shown to work.”

Students who enroll will benefit from best practices including Applied Behavior Analysis, (ABA) positive behavior supports, and instruction based on the work of Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking®, and the Wilson Reading System®.

“This campus will emphasize early transition planning, helping students get a jump start on college and career planning,” added Chapman.  “Our hands-on, project-based learning leverages each student’s interests in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) through classroom and community resources that encourage discovery and exploration.”

The program, which is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school year. For more information, call (856) 482-5252 x150, or go to www.yaleschoolpa.com.
