Excessive Heat Warning Extended Until Saturday

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning as temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-90s throughout the week.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning that has been extended until 8 p.m. Saturday.

The original heat warning was set to expire Wednesday night at 8 p.m.

Experts predict that temperatures over that time will climb into the mid-90s throughout the week.

The heat index over that time will climb well above 100 degrees peaking somewhere between 105 and 110 degrees on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say that cooler temperatures should reach the area Sunday.

The National Weather Service advises that residents drink a lot of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on neighbors and relatives, especially the very young or adults over 50.
