Get Out: Harvest on Henry, Clothing Sale and More

What's going on in and around Roxborough and Manayunk this weekend.

Harvest on Henry

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 20 1 - 4 p.m.
  • Where: W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences 7100 Henry Ave
  • Why Go: CSA, in conjunction with Weavers Way Co-op and Saul Agricultural High School, will be hosting their second annual Harvest Festival.  It will take place on the farm across the street from the high school in Roxborough.  The gala will feature a broad variety of events and merchandise, including child-centered activities such as: hayrides, veggie car racing, face and pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, a cider-pressing demonstration, and even a petting zoo.  There will also be live music, garden workshops, a pie-baking contest, and fare for the hungry and thirsty: produce from the farm, goodies from food trucks, and a repeat of last year's not-to-be-missed cider doughnuts.  Come and support Philly agriculture.

6th Annual Bobtoberfest

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 20 from 3 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Kelly Drive Bike Path at Lloyd Hall, 1 Boat House Row, Kelly Drive, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Bryn Mawr Running Company proudly presents the 6th Annual Bobtoberfest 4 Mile Run. This race is characterized by the Oktoberfest theme with race staff dressed in traditional German festive clothing. We are encouraging participants to also dress in the Oktoberfest theme. The 4 mile race will take place along Boathouse Row at Lloyd hall. The course will go out 2 miles and back on a flat course.The after party will be at the Ugly Moose in Manyunk where your first beverage is on the house compliments of the Bryn Mawr Racing Company. Bratwurst and other refreshments will also be provided.  Race proceeds will benefit the ALS Hope Foundation in honor of former BMRC club president Tom Corrigan.

Giant Pre-Halloween Vintage Clothing Sale

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Old Academy Players, 3544 Indian Queen Lane
  • Why Go: Come find that vintage gown, dress, men's sport coats, lady's hats and much more.
  • Cost: Cash only

Whisper Along the Wissahickon

  • When: Friday, October 19 from 5:30 – 9 p.m.
  • Where: Wissahickon Environmental Center, 300 Northwestern Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118
  • Why Go: You must buy your tickets in advance for this family-friendly fall celebration.  Enjoy hayrides, face painting, magic and live music. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume. Your ticket includes food, beverages, beer, and wine. Tickets are limited, so buy your tickets early.
  • Cost: Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children.
