How Safe Are Philadelphia's Hospitals?

A new hospital safety score ranks how safe area hospitals are for patients.

Chestnut Hill Hospital recieved an "A rating in a recent hospital safety score released by the Leapfrog Group. Roxborough Memorial Hospital recieved a "B" rating.

According to a release on the group’s website, the safety score is meant to “represent the very basic blocks of medical care,” and includes measurements for hand washing, computerized medication control and nurse staffing levels.

“A hospital may have the best surgeons and greatest technology in the world, but unless it is preventing infections and eliminating medical and medication errors and injuries, it is not delivering on … the premise of ensuring the safety of you and your loved ones,” states a release on the group’s website.
