Mid-Week Warm-up As Summer Ends

There will be a mid-week warm-up as summer winds down, followed by cooler temperatures into next week.

After receiving an early fall preview last week with cooler temperatures, we will see a bit of a warm-up into the 80s by mid-week as we say goodbye to summer and welcome fall into our region.

The week will begin with mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures that will remain in the low 70s. There is the slight chance of a scattered overnight rain shower.

Tuesday will bring some clouds into our area as there will be a mixture of sun and clouds. The temperatures will rise into the mid 70s but with the low humidity it should feel rather comfortable outside. The wind may gust up to 15 mph.

By midweek, we will see partly sunny skies with temperatures rebounding into the lower 80s. The humidity will rise throughout the day. Wind gusts will be around 15 mph with another slight chance of an overnight shower.

The last day of summer for the 2011 season will bring some unsettled weather conditions that will linger through the beginning of the weekend. Clouds will begin to thicken early and there will be a chance for a late day shower or thunderstorm. Temperatures will reach the lower 80s.

On Friday, the clouds will continue throughout the day with another chance of thunderstorms developing over our region. The temperature will reach the mid 70s. The Fall Equinox begins at 5:05am.

The weekend will begin with some lingering rain with temperatures in the mid 70s. The wind may gust up to 25 mph on Saturday. On Sunday, we should see things clear out with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s. There could be some dangerous wind gusts that reach over 35 mph.

Looking ahead, it appears that a cooler air mass will approach our area bringing with it cooler temperatures that will only reach the upper 60s for the first half of the week. It does not appear that we are through with the warmer temperatures for the remainder of the year. There will still be several days of temperatures reaching the high 70s and possibly even the lower 80s but these warm-ups will not be long lasting.
