Week Ahead: Neighborhood Cleanup Scheduled, Lots To Do on Main Street this Weekend

A look ahead at what this holiday week has in store.

It's a holiday week with Fourth of July falling on a Thursday giving a lot of people a much deserved four day weekend and a mini summer vacation.

Here are some things going on this week that sound exciting or interesting or of some importance.

Neighborhood CleanupThe Ivy Ridge Green will be conducting a neighborhood cleanup from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2.  Volunteers are encouraged to come out to the intersection of Fountain and Smick Streets in Manayunk as the event gets underway.  After the cleanup, volunteers are invited for drinks at the local pub.

FireworksIt being Fourth of July and all, there will be fireworks at the Philadelphia Art Museum at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.

First FridayIf you're looking for something else to fill your holiday weekend, it's  First Friday in Manayunk on July 5.  The shops on Main Street will be open later than usual, and they will be featuring deals and specials.  

Summer Concert SeriesThe summer concert series will also continue this weekend as live performers hit Main Street on Saturday from 12-5 p.m.
