Zoo Balloon Back for One More Season

The balloon had been destroyed by winter weather.

After an outpouring of support, the Zoo Balloon will in fact fly again this summer.

The Channel 6 ZooBalloon at the Philadelphia Zoo was badly damaged by severe winter weather, and officials made the decision to end the balloon's run.

But following what the zoo said was an "overwhelming response," the balloon will be back for another summer. Weather permitting, the Zoo Balloon will fly every day from April to October.

You can check here to see if the balloon is flying on any given day.

The Zoo Balloon first graced the Philadelphia skyline in July 2002, and since then more than 228,000 people have ridden it, the zoo said. Rides last about 10 minutes and cost $15 person.
