Naturepalooza
Celebrate Earth Day at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education (SCEE) with Naturepalooza on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The spring festival offers fun for the whole family with live entertainment, wild animal shows, art projects, kids’ games, a native plant sale, nature walks and more. The Plants, a four-piece Philadelphia-based band for kids, will headline a rotating schedule of acts on SCEE’s pavilion stage.
Also on the pavilion stage, meet Tabitha the vulture, Loki the screech owl and other ambassadors from the center’s wildlife rehabilitation clinic. SCEE’s executive director Mike Weilbacher will engage the audience with his popular blend of humor, movement, juggling, magic tricks and more. The festival features plenty of fun activities inside and out, including animal-themed relay races and obstacle courses, arts and crafts projects and naturalist-led walks. Volunteers from the Society of Women Environmental Professionals of Greater Philadelphia (SWEP) will host a science station featuring hands-on science experiments for children.
SCEE’s annual Native Plant Sale is open to the public the same day, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Enjoy Naturepalooza, then shop for your yard or garden from a huge selection of native plants. Naturepalooza and the Native Plant Sale are free and open to the public.
