Private House Concert: NY performer Jason Liebman

For Mt Airy House Concert's last concert of 2011, we are hosting New York performer Jason Liebman. You can read all about him and find loads of reviews and samples of his music at www.jasonlmusic.com. Jason's most recent CD is "Sweet Sacrifice," and rumor has it a new one is on the works. I will tell you what I like about Jason's music is his lovely, engaging voice and delicious delivery. (His cover of "Pale Blue Eyes" is to die... for). Comparable singers, to my mind, include Paul Simon, Neil Finn (of Crowded House) and Justin Currie (of Del Amitri). His music is probably best described as softer rock -- it doesn't have the grittiness and rustic nature of full-on folk music -- and while he can rock with his band, his acoustic style was described by one reviewer as "having an emotional tenor that floats through the melodies while having enough rasp to anchor it to earth." (JB Brookman at HollywoodIconMagazine.com). Jason is also self-effacing and approachable, and funny and easy to be around. I saw him early this year at MilkBoy Coffee in Ardmore, and couldn't wait to get him here for a show. Here is a link to Jason performing his original tune "The Stars Above" at MilkBoy, www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVus6jfzF8g. The whole band won't be in my living room, but I think you can get a feel for his music from this and other clips on YouTube.
