This fund-raiser supports the Soroptimist club’s service programs, including the Violet Richardson Award and the Women’s Opportunity Awards.  Application forms will be distributed.

  • Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award:  This award recognizes young women (ages 14-17) for demonstrating leadership by identifying an issue that is important to them in their communities and the world and addressing it through their volunteer efforts.  In addition to recognizing young women for their efforts to make the world a better place, the program provides recipients with leadership opportunities to encourage and support them to continue their work as community leaders.  Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls are particularly encouraged.  Awards begin at the local club level.  (Currently, the 1st prize winner receives $250; the 2nd prize winner receives $150.)  Each region grants an award.  One federation award ($2,000) is granted.
  • Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards:  This program provides cash grants to women, financial heads of households demonstrating financial need, who are working to better their lives through additional skills training and education.  Awards begin at the local club level.  (The school of the 1st prize winner receives $500 to help defray the cost of the winner’s education.)  Each region grants awards.  Three federation awards ($10,000 each) are granted.
