Grab & Go Kids Planner: Dr. Seuss' Birthday and a Scavenger Hunt

Starting next week, the Grab & Go Kids Planner will run on Mondays.

Here's this week's installment of our , which documents upcoming family- and kid-friendly activities in the Northwest. Starting next week, the planner will run on Mondays.

Children’s Art Classes with Quincy Carpenter
- Where/When:
Manayunk Roxborough Art Center, 419 Green Lane, on Tuesday (and ongoing on Tuesdays). From 3 to 4 p.m., there is Little Artists—day classes for young children ages 2 to 5 who are accompanied by an adult. From 4 to 5 p.m., there is Afterschool Art—classes for 7- to 12-year-olds to explore different kinds of media and techniques to make art, including collage, still life and landscape painting. And from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., there is Fabulous French for ages 9 to 14, which is an exploration of art and painting with a focus on French artists, such as Impressionists, Expressionists and Fauvists.
- Why Go:
Have fun while learning about art with a painter with over 10 years of experience.
- Pricing:

Witchhazel is your Favorite? A Scavenger Hunt at Morris Arboretum
- Where/When: Morris Arboretum, 100 E. Northwestern Ave., Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
- Why Go:
The arboretum has fabulous color and fragrance even in the middle of winter. Follow the scavenger hunt to discover the many varieties of witchhazels growing there. Witchhazels are some of the first harbingers of spring, and they range in color, from yellow and orange to pink and red, according to the arboretum Web site. After your hunt, stop back at the visitor center and make a fun craft.
- Pricing:
Free with regular admission. Admission: $7 for children ages 3 to 17; $7 for students and active military (with ID); $16 for adults; $14 for seniors; $7 hike/bike/SEPTA. Members free.

Erin Lee Kelly music performance, Treehouse ROCKS! Family Entertainment Series
- Where/When:
Little Treehouse, 10 W. Gravers Lane, on Saturday from 6 to 6:45 p.m. with guaranteed dinner seating either before or after the show.
- Why Go:
Come hear Erin Lee Kelly, a family music songwriter, performer, and childhood music specialist from the New York City Up Past Bedtime Band. She will perform with special guests from The Cat’s Pajamas.
- Pricing: $5 for adults, $15 for children (includes Treehouse Kids' Meal: entrée, side and drink). Reservations required and include scheduled dinner seating time. To make a reservation, call 215-247-3637.

Baby Play Group at The Nesting House
- Where/When:
The Nesting House, 606 Carpenter Lane, Tuesday (and ongoing on Tuesdays), 10 a.m. to noon.
- Why Go: Meet other parents and babies from ages six months to 12 months who live in the neighborhood.
- Pricing: Free

Dr. Seuss’ Birthday at Grumblethorpe in Historic Germantown
- Where/When: Grumblethorpe, 5267 Germantown Ave., on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. 
- Why Go:
Celebrate this favorite children’s author with a focus on the story "The King’s Stilts." Participants will make a pair of stilts, hear a reading of the story and share some birthday cake.
- Pricing:
