Manayunk Stil Needs Zombies

The Manayunk Development Corporation needs volunteers for its Zombie dance contest on Oct. 26.

The following is a press release from the Manayunk Development Corporation.

On Saturday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. humans will be fighting for their lives inside Manayunk’s Zombie Thriller Dance-Off!  Okay, maybe not “fighting for their lives,” but participants will be dancing their way towards $1,000 in cash prizes!

Zombies will be taking over Cotton Street in Manayunk, lurching out with eerie dance moves from Michael Jackson’s classic hit, Thriller. Dancers of all ages are welcome to compete in the ghoulishzombie frolic right off of Main Street in Manayunk.

“We want to see your best zombie costume,” says Manayunk Development Corporation Executive Director Jane Lipton. “We’ll be giving an award for ‘Best Zombie Costume’ in addition to the best dancer of the bunch!”

Don’t know all the moves to Michael Jackson’s Thriller?  No worries!  We will have Merge Dance Studio Owner and Choreographer, Christa Campbell, leading a step-by-step instruction session before the competition begins!  Click here to see the dance video.

The competition will be broken into three waves.  The first, for kids ages 12 and under, the second, for teens, ages 12-17, and the final for adults, ages 18 and over!  The dancers will pull off their best Michael Jackson moves and be tapped on the shoulder to exit the floor one-by-one until the winner is left standing.

Cash prizes of $250 and $50 will be awarded to first and second place dancers respectively for ’Best Dancer’ and ‘Best Costume’ in each 12 & above age group!  Interested dancers can register at http://manayunkdotcom.ticketleap.com/the-zombie-manayunk-thriller-dance-off/.
