Continuing an influx of art to Ridge Avenue, the Roxborough Development Corporation hosts a regional touring art studio next weekend.
On Oct. 6 and 7, Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST), brings internationally renowned artists to the Roxborough Development Corporation's office for a free gallery.
"The RDC envisions a neighborhood that warmly embraces the eclectic spirit of our local artists," RDC Executive Director Bernard Guet said in a news release. "Through the creation of our RoxArt Gallery, visitors can experience the visual art scene in our small village atmosphere".
Guet credited event sponsor, East River Bank, and the Manayunk Roxborough Art Center for aiding the RDC in promoting art on and along Ridge Avenue.
The event runs next weekend from noon to 4 p.m., where the RoxArt Gallery debuts local and international artists. Free, the opening will feature live paintings and hand weavings, in addition to free food and refreshments.
Sculptor Pierre Lebefvre, who has exhibited in the White House, Buckingham Palace in London, and the United Nations Building, will have art in Roxborough.
And, Simba Kanyangarara shows off his sculpted spring stones that he hand selected from Zimbabwe and imported to Roxborough.
The art will hang at 6111 Ridge Ave. throughout October, and people may stop by weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
