What You Need to Know for Back to School

With school slated to start on time, here are some links to help you get ready for the beginning of the year.

While it was recently announced that the City of Philadelphia would borrow $50 million because of thePhiladelphia School District's well-documented funding issues, parents can still begin to register their children for school.

If your child's school recently closed the district has a useful school finder tool that will tell you which school your child now attends.  To find that tool click here.

Two weeks ago Philadelphia School District Superintendent William Hite announced that the school year might not start on time in a letter to the parents.  Click here to read that letter.

Last week, Mayor Nutter announced that the city would borrow $50 million to hire back support staff that help make schools safer.

The district will use that $50 million in additional funds to pay for support staff that Hite said will help make Philadelphia schools safer.  These staff positions include lunch and playground monitors, assistant principals and counselors.
