Bunting House Plan Actually Calls for 'Generic Fast Food'

A representative for Councilman Curtis Jones says that no deal with Wendy's has been made.

A representative for Councilman Curtis Jones told the Wissahickon Neighbors Civic Association on Monday that the former site of the Bunting House will not necessarily become a Wendy’s.

Josh Cohen, who works for Councilman Jones, said that the owners of the property are looking to put a fast food restaurant on the site, but that no deal has been reached with Wendy’s.

“The plan that they submitted to the planning commission was for a generic fast food restaurant,” Cohen said.  “It did not say Wendy’s on it.”

Cohen also said that Wendy's has been discussed for the property, but no agreement has been made.

Cohen added that the owners of the property, Giovannone Construction, Inc., would explore all their options before building, and that they would come back to the community before any final decisions were made.

Cohen also said that due to the limitations of the property it might not be possible to put the kind of establishment there that residents would respond to more positievely like a Panera.

"Every chain has certain requirements for space and parking.  Wendy's would work better on the site because it's a little bit smaller," Cohen said.
