Councilman Jones Opposes Wendy's Project

Philadelphia City Councilman Curtis Jones comes out against the proposed Wendy's.

A spokesperson for Philadelphia City Councilman Curtis Jones said that the councilman stands opposed to the proposed Wendy's at the corner of Ridge and Roxborough Avenues.

"The councilman has serious concerns about the application based on the outpouring of opposition from the community," said spokesperson Josh Cohen.  "He doesn't think it's a good fit."

A multitude of residents have expressed concerns about the project saying that it will lead to trash, traffic, pollution and a number of other problems.

Much of the community's outrage can be linked to the developers demolition of the historic Bunting House that once stood on that lot.

Residents also oppose the design of the project as well as the drive thru.

There will be a city zoning hearing to discuss the project on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at noon at 1515 Arch St. in Philadelphia on the 18th floor.

The developers can build a restaurant at that location by right according to the zoning code.  However, they need a special exception in order to have take out and a drive thru.

Wednesday's zoning hearing will address the drive thru.
