Dalessandro’s Named Top 10 Cheesesteak

The Roxborough restaurant was on a list of places in the city for the 'most authentic cheesesteaks.'

When Dalessandro's isn't busy it's getting named one of the city's top 10 most authentic cheesesteaks.

The Roxborough restaurant was featured on Visit Philly, the city's visitor's website, as the number eighth-most authentic cheesesteak in the city.

Here's what the website had to say about Dalessandro's steak:

Dalessandro’s has been serving delicious — if sinfully greasy — cheesesteaks from their corner locale for as long as anybody can remember. Legend has it that the grillmasters at Delassandro’s season their sizable flattoped grill with fat before adding the meat.

They're the best since they were located at ridge & manayunk ave. Loaded with meat.

They have always been at the current location, over 35 years... Different owners at one time but back to original owners now

Wroing! The 3rd owners run the place now and have improved over the 2nd owners who almost ruined the name. And yes, they started at Ridge & Manayunk Ave in the 50's.

Best cheesesteaks by far and I have eaten my share over the years. My wife, a South Philly native agrees.

I think Barry's has the Best Cheesesteaks. Family owned & operated, I axed Deli's years ago after my 3rd horrible cheesesteak from that place, Yuck!

Deli's used to be great with the original owner Bill Dalessandro with Bill Martin as his butcher, he left just enough fat in the steak to make it so tasty and tender. The 3rd owner has great customer service and improved it over the 2nd owner but I have to agree the Barry's is the best in Roxborough. Barry managed Deli's for years and treated like it was his own before opening his own place.

I like to patronize local "family" owned businesses & Deli's has gone way south, one hand doesn't know what the other was doing, just to order a Cheese Steak from Deli's seemed to set off mass confusion, once you got there, they had lost your order, never an apology & you're just left standing there for another 20-30 minutes, I'd had enough. So I started patronizing Barry's years ago, their always friendly & attentive to their customers.
