On the Walking Tour

Community planners take a walking tour of Manayunk.

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission brought nearly thirty community and business development planners from across the region to Manayunk on Wednesday for a luncheon and walking tour of Manayunk as part of its Classic Towns of Greater Philadelphia Program.

The event presented an opportunity for planners to learn about the development of the Manayunk business district and its future plans. Jane Lipton, executive director of the and Kay Sykora, executive director of Destination Schuylkill River, led the tour and discussed the area's past development and the future plans. Among those plans are a refurbishing of parts ofhe towpath walkway, a performing arts space, and a condominium project to be built on the location of the old Connelly Container property.

We went along on the walk to show you what went on.
