Philly Brewers Create 'Walking Dead'-Inspired Beer with Goat Brains

Dock Street Brewing Company brew uses smoked goat brains to celebrate the uber-popular AMC zombie television show.

There are plenty of strange and unique niche beers out there. 

Beers brewed with bull testiclescoffee beans from an elephant’s buttbeard byproductsgreen apple wasabi—but, the Dock Street Brewing Company’s peculiar brew might just be the smartest.

Head Brewer Justin Low and Brewery Rep Sasha Certo-Ware put their heads together to come up with an American Pale Stout brewed with wheat, oats, flaked barley, organic cranberry and... wait for it... smoked brains.

Don't worry, no humans were sacrificed to create this brainy brew. The brains in Dock Street's stout come from goats. 

The Philadelphia brewery might be onto something inspired with the timely addition of grey matter:  this just-out-there-enough brew is getting lots of publicity because this Sunday is the season finale of AMC’s Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead—a mega-popular cable horror drama—is thick with zombies hungry for brains.

Dock Street Walker is a 7.2 percent ABV tart, blood-red, stout imbued with a “intriguing, subtle smoke notes” thanks to the goat brains, according to the beer’s brewers.

Dock Street is releasing the beer Sunday at 7 p.m. at a Walking Dead release party.
