RDC Has A New Home

The corporation made the official move Monday.

On Monday, the said goodbye to it's old home and hello to a new one.

The RDC, that was located at 6148 Ridge Avenue, moved down the block to the vacant building at 6111 Ridge. The phone number will be the same, the development corporation stated.

The Foodery, that already has two locations in Philadelphia, will be moving into the old RDC home and may open as early as February or March, but nothing is definite, James Calamia, operations manager for the development corporation said.

The spot on the same block is only a temporary spot, Calamia said, adding that the corporation is hoping to find a local building that needs to be rehabbed.

"It's what we did with this building," he said.

According to its website, the Foodery offers a selection of more than 800 American and imported craft beers that are available by the bottle or a make-your-own six pack.

The establishment also offers deli sandwiches, snacks and a variety of chocolates and cheeses.

"I think it's great," Calamia said. "It's going to bring something new to the corridor and open up more diversity. Hopefully it will be an example to other businesses."
