UPS Office Finds Ridge Ave. Home

Roxborough location open and ready for your packages.

The new UPS Store opened at 6024 Ridge Ave. and already has drawn small business owners and locals to its Roxborough Commons facility.

Arnold Lawrence, store manager for the Roxborough franchise, interrupts his interview to open the door for customers carrying packages into the shop. Open seven days a week, Ridge Avenue's newest shop looks to hit the ground running.

"The idea is to make this like everyone's own office, for corporate clients or small businesses," Lawrence said.

A Mt. Airy native, Lawrence comes to the Ridge Avenue store with both retail and logistics experience and said he intends to convert that to great customer service for the Roxborough community.

"People can call orders in and we can prepare them for when they arrive, or they can just drop by. We're here to provide your business or personal need with the best service," he said.

The shop possesses computer terminals, copy machines and standard printing, in addition to more elaborate printing services. People may also rent mailboxes.

And as a UPS Store, the shop exists as a shipping destination for UPS Air and Ground options.

Previously, the closest UPS Store to Roxborough was at Crittenden Street in Chestnut Hill or Lancaster Avenue in Wynnewood—not exactly very close for Roxborough and Manayunk residents.

Located next to Sherwin Williams, the shop sits directly in the middle of the Ridge Avenue business corridor.

"The location is just perfect. Look at all those cars that drive right past. Roxborough Commons is perfect for us, and we hope to be here for many years to come," he said.

What separates the UPS Store from other shipping options, he said, is the hours. Open seven days a week, the shop also remains open until 7 p.m. during weekdays.

"We're here Sunday. We were even here on Columbus Day," Arnold said.

Currently, the shop undergoes its soft opening before hosting a grand event announcing its presence in the Roxborough community Oct. 22. For the most part, the UPS Store is ready to roll. Lawrence said it could add more computers.
