There's no place like CR Home for the Holidays

‘Tis the Season to Save those Boxes from Online Shopping and Join the Reuse Movement with Community Recycling

CR Home Invites All to Recycle Clothes with Reuse in Mind and Leave it at the Front Door for Pick Up!

Black Friday. Shop Local Saturday. Cyber Monday. All of these days, and about twenty-nine more, mean that lots of packages will be arriving at collective doorways with new gifts, goodies and gadgets to help spread the holiday cheer. In fact, Shop.org forecasts online sales to grow 13-15% over last year in the months of November and December. Online holiday sales are predicted to hit $82 billion dollars. Community Recycling would like everyone to take a moment to pack up the old, gently used things currently cluttering closets and drawers and make room for the new. SAVE THE BOXES! Reuse them by filling them with clothes, shoes, bags and belts. Then use the newest clothing recycling solution designed to fit the cyber-lifestyle we are leading – CR Home.

“Our goal is to make clothing recycling top of mind, convenient and a great experience,” said Ira Baseman, President of Community Recycling. “We have set out on a mission to celebrate the cause of clothing recycling, with reuse as the central feature that connects people all over the world. That is why we are transparent in our actions. We want people to know and understand where their clothes go in an effort to make the world a smaller, friendlier and greener place.”

Community Recycling is proud to be a for-profit recycler of clothing with a focus on reuse. They understand that people everywhere are looking for easier ways to do the responsible green thing without extra hassles and legwork, especially around the holidays. CR Home pays for shipping and connects the dots by people recycling for people.  Convenient and easy recycling of those extra things all household host to those in need of quality, second hand goods both domestically and internationally.

“Buying and selling clothes, shoes and other items thrive online. We firmly believe that a good closet cleanout and household green-up will flourish in the ecommerce space,” said Lisa Pomerantz, VP Marketing and Business Development for Community Recycling. “CR Home allows for an incredible online recycling experience where recyclers learn ‘the how, the why and the where’ behind extending the useful life of their gently used clothes.”

CR Home is elegantly simple to use. All that is needed is a box (and we know they are coming), a printer (for free shipping labels) and some time to search through closets and drawers. Package up all of the gently used, re-wearable items, attach the free shipping label to those boxes that are incoming and hand it off to the postal worker.

The EPA just recently released the results in their report, Facts and Figures for the 2011 Municipal Solid Waste and remarkably, clothing recycling today has an equivalent impact of removing one (1) million cars from the nation’s roads. That is more than five (5) times the impact of recycled yard trimmings, more than four (4) times the impact of glass recycling, more than plastics recycling and nearly the same impact as recycling aluminum. Clothing reuse is the easiest, green thing everyone can do to save our resources, create jobs and fuel our local economies.

The eco-friendly choice to join the Reuse Movement with CR Home keeps landfills hungry while supporting Community Recycling’s ongoing mission of People Recycling for People. Currently, Community Recycling captures between 2-3 million pounds of clothing each week for reuse.  That amounts to well over 100 million pounds per year for the good of the environment and the people who make up communities around the world.
