Flash Flood Watch Issued for the City
The National Weather Services has declared a flash flood watch from 12 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday.
Due to the potential for heavy rains causing rapidly developing and dangerous flooding, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Philadelphia and surrounding counties from 12 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Saturday.
According to the weather service, "low pressure will move along a stationary front in the mid-Atlantic region this afternoon and this evening. Resulting thunderstorms may yield rainfall rates exceeding 2-inches in less than a hour. Additional thunderstorms may track across the same area resulting in flash flooding."
The heavy rains could also impact travel on major roadways, including the service said, the I-95 corridor.
The NWS said flash flooding can cause very dangerous situations and residents of areas included in the watch should monitor the forecast.
