Great Escape: Wine

Check out these local events for your wining and dining.

After a long week at the office, it’s great to kick back and relax with a glass of your favorite wine. But why wait? All across this city, there are people who want to give you and teach you about wine. Check out these wine tastings, classes and events for a fun vino adventure any night of the week.

VIP Party– LocalWineEvents.com is a great place to check out area events, and you can find everything from Center City tastings to parties in your own backyard…like Manayunk. Bourbon Blue is commemorating the opening night of its outdoor deck with a VIP Deck Party. With butlered food and a two hour open bar that includes beer, liquor and the house Sangria, it may not specifically be a wine tasting event, but it’s certainly not something you want to miss. Space is limited so try to RSVP to attend.

Mt. Airy Learning Tree– Mt. Airy Learning Tree always offers great courses, but this one will leave you buzzing. Discover the wines of Northern Italy with this class as participants focus on the wines of Piedmont. With some lesser-known wines white wines from the area and reds like Barolo, Barbera and more, this liquid tour of Piedmont will educate and entertain. Get Educated Regularly – Even if you aren’t looking to become a certified wine expert, the Philadelphia Wine School has a lot of classes for people just looking to become more enthusiastic about what they drink. With classes about wines from Australia to Tuscany and a number of other classes (like Sauced Education: The Tequila Class) held throughout the week, this is a versatile, flexible wine tasting option for any schedule.

Ristorante Panorama – Located at 14 North Front Street, Ristorante Panoramais a perfect city getaway with a huge number of wine events for your Friday nights. Panorama Wine Bar’s Friday Night Flights from 6-8pm are a great spot to indulge in the finer things in life. With cheese, hor d’oeurves and wine tasting from a different importer or region each week, it’s definitely worth the $25 a person in advance or $35 at the door. And with a portion of the money being donated to a new charity every month, how can you go wrong?

Can’t Catch the Mt. Airy Class? – Check out the Tria Fermentation School. It’s a great event for your summer and a great way to learn to appreciate wine, cheese and beer in all the right ways. With a number of classes, from Master Classes like Classic Cali Pinot Noir on May 27 to the Beautiful Barolo June 23 featuring rare and collectible wines, there is something for wine enthusiasts from all parts of the spectrum.
