Love Your Fruits & Vegetables - Though your kids may have missed the Love Your Fruits and Vegetables in Roxborough, there are still a bunch of wild and forthcoming kids’ cooking classes in a number of locations, including Ambler and Plymouth Meeting. Watch your children find a new appreciation for the greens they used to abhor, and have some time to yourself while they learn to bake cookies and sample new and exotic eats. Viking – But if you’re looking for a chance to test your own mettle in the kitchen, head on over to Bryn Mawr for a lesson at the Viking Cooking School. With classic classes like One-Day Italian Culinary Basics, you’ll quickly grasp those slicing, dicing and searing skills you’ve been missing. Other classes like Baby Cakes will leave your mouth-watering even as you leave the kitchen. You can learn hands on practices through a series session or just sign up for a one-class taste. And though adult classes are for folks 16 and older, there are kids and teen classes for the whole family.

Project Learn School – Though may be out for the summer, keep your eyes peeled for their regularly scheduled Cooking for Kids classes. This past winter and spring these free classes were open for kids age 5-15 on Saturdays in conjunction with the school’s Saturday Arts Program.  From soup and bread-making to peach cobbler, your kids will whip up a storm in the kitchen after a taste of these classes.

La Cucina at the Market – If you’re looking for a cooking class that doubles as a real getaway, head on down to the Reading Terminal Market in the heart of Philadelphia for La Cucina at the Market, a section of the market dedicated to food demonstrations and cooking classes of all levels. Proprietor Anna Maria Florio masterminded these classes back in 2007, and they have been well-received since. Learn to make your own homemade pasta or take yourself out on a real date with the Date Night: An Enchanted Evening for Two as you make and eat a full meal with your loved one. There’s a number of varied classes running all through the end of summer and the fall, so pick what’s right for you.

Mt. Airy Learning Tree – The Mt. Airy Learning Tree is once again hosting a wide variety of interesting and tasty cooking classes come this fall. Cookie decorating will prepare you for holidays, Chair and Chat will give you a Saturday morning of culture as you explore the ins and outs of making authentic chai blends, and baking 101 will help even the most nervous and struggling of beginners find that cake, brownie or pastry that’s right for them.
