Saturday Snow May Touch Roxborough and Manayunk

An earlier National Weather Service prediction called for trace amounts.

A forecast from the National Weather Service at midday Friday called for a couple inches of snow Saturday in the Philadelphia area, after a report Thursday night called for less than an inch throughout the weekend.

One to two inches will probably fall overnight after 1 a.m., with temperatures barely below freezing with a low of 26, the NWS predicted.

Then daytime precipitation on Saturday (forecast high: 36) could be a messy mix: rain, snow and sleet through midday, snow and sleet in the afternoon and rain and snow in the evening.

All that, the NWS predicted, should accumulate to another one to two inches.

Winter Weather Advisory from the agency is in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in eight area counties, including Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery and Chester. It predicts 1 to 3 inches of snow in that area, along with a tenth of an inch of ice.
