Weekend Planner: First Friday and More

A list of events going on Manayunk and Roxborough this weekend.

Just because the Eagles' playoff prospects are ruined, doesn't mean your weekend has to be too. Here's a look at some of the top events going on in Roxborough and Manayunk over the next couple days.

 

Find out what's happening in Roxborough-Manayunkwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • Where/When: From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at participating shops on Main Street from Green Lane to Shurs, and on various side streets.
  • Why Go: Enjoy the best art, food, and shopping Manayunk has to offer with their third monthly block party. Tonight's conceit, in addition to the individuals specials Main Street's merchants have running, is to follow a set of flags from store to store.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: Starting at 8 p.m. at 3901 Main Street.
  • Why Go: Tired of boring, sedentary dates? Swing by 3901 Main Street on Friday night for a fun couples yoga lesson. Strengthen connections, release stress and stiffness, and enjoy a unique bonding experience. Beginners are welcome.
  • Pricing: $20

 

  • Where/When: Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 7 p.m. at 3540 Indian Queen Road.
  • Why Go: Stop by the stage that launched the careers of Grace Kelly and Robert Prosky this weekend to see the Old Academy Players, a non-profit theater company out of East Falls, perform their tenth annual holiday show.
  • Pricing: $15

 

  • Where/When: Saturday at 3 p.m. at 600 E Cathedral Road
  • Why Go: The Chestnut Hill College Community Chorus will sing a Christmas medley composed of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata 140, excerpts of George Bizet’s Carmen, and the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
  • Pricing: Free

 

  • Where/When: Sunday at 2 p.m. at 6769 Ridge Avenue
  • Why Go: St. Alban's Church, in cooperation with Roxborough Baptist and Green Lane Methodist, will gather at St. Alban's for a 20 minute ecumenical service at 2 p.m., after which they will carol their way to Green Lane Methodist for another service, then to Roxborough Baptist.
  • Pricing: Free
