Please join Manayunk bookstore, The Spiral Bookcase for their upcoming event, the Spiral Salon! Featuring two local authors, a local artist, and a local musician, the salon will be held on Thursday, February 21st at 7 p.m. on 112 Cotton Street in Manayunk.
There is an impressive lineup of local talent. Elliott Ridenour is a creative writing student at Arcadia University’s MFA program. He will be reading a piece titled “They Come Marching,” which was featured in the May 2012 issue of HotHouse Literary Magazine. Daniel DiFranco is also a local writer and musician working on his MFA at Arcadia, and his work has appeared on various bathroom walls from coast to coast and in “Fiction at Work.” When he is not writing or on a gig, he is teaching high school English and music.
Artist Katie O’Connor creates exhibits of Barbies that are intended to convey a sense of grace, simplicity, and emotion. She also works with home schoolers at Talking Stick Learning Center. Finally, Neon and Shy is the music project of accordionist, toy pianist, and writer of eclectic songs, Dan Nosheny. His songs bridge the gap between irony and sincerity, and include such ageless themes as love, loss, mad scientists, and Microsoft Excel. In 2012, Neon and Shy released his debut album, “I Don't Want to Be Your Friend.”
Event organizer Ann Tetreault noted, “We created The Spiral Salon to showcase a variety of talent and to create an enjoyable and inclusive space for like-minded folks. This casual gathering is a way for you to mingle and experience the creativity that this area has to offer.”
Light refreshments will be provided. For more information, please go to www.thespiralbookcase.com or contact Ann Tetreault at 215-917-1962. Don’t miss out on experiencing these wonderful Philadelphia talents for yourself!
