Rock the Runway

“Rock the Runway,” the wildly successful fashion show put on by the Springside School Fashion Club, raised over $6,000 for the American Cancer Society last year.  The team is gearing up for another fabulous event on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 PM, this time to support The Batonga Foundation, an organization that supports secondary and higher education for girls in Africa.  Batonga’s missson resonated profoundly with the organizers of the event who heard their message after travelling to Senegal last summer: “Girls with more schooling participate in greater numbers in the labor force and earn more for their families and society.” This year’s show features 70s-inspired clothing modeled by students from both Springside and Chestnut Hill Academy as well as live student performances. Pictured here are members of the Fashion Club—Natalie Kapp, Melissa Beight (president of Fashion Club), and Kendall Spearing—displaying the T-shirts and bracelets that are part of the fundraising efforts. The community is invited to help us "Rock the Runway" in support of educational opportunities; tickets are $10 at the door and the event will be held in Springside’s Upper School Auditorium, 8000 Cherokee Street, Philadelphia, PA.
