Weekend Planner: Health Fairs, Book Signings & More

Some activities going on in the Manayunk-Roxborough area this weekend.

Still looking for something to do this weekend? Here are a few options in the Manayunk-Roxborough area:

Race For The Cure: Kick off the weekend early Friday afternoon and cheer on a the thousands of women and men participating in the 3-day Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. A cheering station will be located on Main Street between Gay and Cotton Street between 11:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Book Signing: A Roxborough addition to the Images of America series was recently released and to honor the hometown book is hosting a book signing event from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The book, according to a press release, is packed with stunning facts and images from Roxborough's historic neighborhood. Books are available at the book shop and can be reserved by call 215-482-0704.

Health Fair: The is hosting a health fair Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event is open to the public and will feature a number of vendors who specify in fitness, medical screenings, yoga, kids' health and alternative medicines. For more information contact the rec center at 215-685-2584.

Apple Picking: The is hosting an apple picking and cider making event at its center from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The free event will feature a hike through the forest to the center's farm to meet its farmers. Participants will have the opportunity to taste, pick, explore and even pitch in during some farm chores. There will be hands-on activities and all ages are welcome.
