The top five most read stories in 2011.

A number of businesses opened up shop in Roxborough and Manayunk in 2011 including Lucky's Last Chance, the Han Dynasty and The Tomato Bistro. This list looks at the good, and bad, business stories of the year.

A fall fire, that started in the early morning hours, destroyed several businesses on Ridge Avenue including a Chinese restaurant and bingo hall. Luckily, no one was hurt in the blaze.

After a century-long stay on Main Street, A.I Poland Jewelers said goodbye the same year the shop was robbed at gunpoint. The incident, the owner said, was not a reason for his departure.

In just a few short months, Valentines Day will be upon us again. This February story showed loved birds where to get the most thoughtful presents. 

With more than 100 votes, this Roxborough establishment came out on top as the best slice around. 

While 2011 wasn't a good year for video stores. The Ridge Avenue blockbuster closed its doors in February.
