Since 1936 The North Light Community Cetner has been providing help for community members and programs for children. Donations to the center ensure that quality programs are affordable for all community members and that no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. With the holiday season in full swing bell ringers for The Salvation Army's Red Kettle initative are popping up in front of super markets and on street corners. If ringing a bell isn't your thing, the organization provides a number of ways to donate. Appliances, automobiles, children and adult clothing, furniture and household goods are needed to stock the organization's adult rehabilitation centers. Bike and Build is a nonprofit organization on Ridge Avenue that, according to its website, "works with young adults to produce cross-country fundraising cycling trips, open to participants 18 to 25.
