Flood Watch Declared For The City

It is in effect Tuesday afternoon through the evening, the National Weather Service stated.

A flood watch has been declared for Philadelphia and surround counties beginning Tuesday afternoon through the evening, the National Weather Service stated.

Heavy rainfall is expected Tuesday and 1 to 1.5 inches would be enough to start flooding in small rivers and more susceptible creeks, the alert continued, adding that flooding is expected on roadways that experience poor drainage and could cause some road closures.

The rain should have the biggest impact on the evening commute but may cause less of a problem because of the lighter-than-average traffic due to the holiday week, the NWS stated.
